POPOL VUH ON TELEVISION

1. POP IN DEUTSCHLAND (1970)

- ?

*

A documentary made for television in 1970.  According to Gunther Ehnert in his book ‘Rock in Deutschland’ in the early years Popol Vuh had a tv appereance not only in the Beatclub, but also in the film ‘Pop in Deutschland’. Alas, Ehnert adds no further information on this film.
Maybe 'Improvisation' comes from this documentary, that was shown in 'Pop 2000' (4) and in 'Deutschrocknacht 1' (6).

2. Deutschlandspiegel 198 (3.3.1971)

'Kraut und Ruben' (5) & 'Deutschrocknacht 2' (7) showed both a semi-live performance of Popol Vuh in their 'Hosianna Mantra' days. Both items are not completely the same. One of them has a short conversation with Florian Fricke.
Probably this was broadcasted in the 70s shortly after 'Hosianna Mantra' was released.
It features Florian Fricke, Conny Veit, Djong Yun, Robert Eliscu, Klaus Wiese and Bettina Fricke.

6. INNOVATIVE COMMUNICATION (1981)

Innovative Communication produced a video ‘Gemeinsam Tranken sie den Wein’. A very bad copy is available at Youtube.

Klaus D.Müller writes in 1997: “Shortly after, the IC Video Studio was set up, so that video clips could be made     with and for the own IC artists. This was pretty new and sensational in 1979. [....] It was exhausting work in the IC video studios: we did all by ourselves. Although we asked each musician for useful ideas or even a script for their clip, the only one who had both was Klaus Krüger. In all other cases we had to improvise.”
